Tone Mapping Algorithm for Luminance Separated HDR Rendering Based on Visual Brightness Functions

چکیده
Tone mapping algorithms are used in image processing that reduces the range of high dynamic range (HDR) image to be displayed on low dynamic range (LDR) devices. The retinex method is one of the tone mapping algorithms to provide dynamic range compression, color constancy, and color rendition. It has been developed from single scale methods to multi-scale methods. Retinex algorithms still have drawbacks like the noise and desaturation. In this paper, we propose a new local tone mapping algorithm for enhancement of contrast, saturation, and noise of HDR rendered images. In proposed algorithm, an RGB image is converted into an HSV image. The V component provides intensity information of images and it can be easily used to estimate the global and local illuminants. The new algorithm introduces an adaptive gamma correction method as a function of local illuminants.

متن کاملEvaluation and Enhancement of HDR Image Appearance on Displays of Varying Dynamic Range
The increasingly widespread availability of high dynamic range (HDR) technology has led to active study of the characteristics of the human visual system (HVS) in terms of brightness, lightness, contrast, and color perception and the application of the results of these studies to computer graphics. Because the development of HDR technology gives us display devices with much broader dynamic rang...
متن کاملZonal brightness coherency for video tone mapping
Tone Mapping Operators (TMOs) compress High Dynamic Range (HDR) contents to address Low Dynamic Range (LDR) displays. While many solutions have been designed over the last decade, only few of them can cope with video sequences. Indeed, these TMOs tone map each frame of a video sequence separately, which results in temporal incoherency. Two main types of temporal incoherency are usually consider...

As new displays and cameras offer enhanced color capabilities, there is a need to extend the precision of digital content. High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging encodes images and video with higher than normal bit-depth precision, enabling representation of the complete color gamut and the full visible range of luminance. This thesis addresses three problems of HDR imaging: the measurement of visibl...

An anchoring theory of lightness perception comprehensively explains many characteristics of human visual system such as lightness constancy and its spectacular failures which are important in the perception of images. We present a novel approach to tone mapping of high dynamic range (HDR) images which is inspired by the anchoring theory. The key concept of this method is the decomposition of a...
